Johnny's comedy writing takes a bad turn when a new character goes rogue and attacks the show. Jack hatches a plan to temporarily thwart the bad guy, but this 1981 problem may not be resolved until season four in 2018.

Allen, as Melvin Skuphoyden, a door-to-door salesman, breaks the fourth wall and attacks the show, wreaking havoc; Jack Bachner, American Gigolo?; With the fourth wall broken, Johnny and Jack battle Skuphoyden for control of the show; Johnny, Jack, and John Daro in a sequel to season two's Godfather sketch, but this time Skuphoyden gets involved.
